Elk Rut 2011 Gary, 17 December 201118 December 2011 Aspen Trees Another fall and another trip to Rocky Mountain National Park for the annual Elk Rut. This year there weren’t very many elk. But enough that the kids were able to see some and enjoy themselves. We started the day off with a picnic and then went to see some elk. The weather was cold and drizzly so we didn’t spend too much time out of the truck. It was the rut season and one buck was getting a little frisky! Thankfully the cow wanted nothing to do with him so we didn’t have to explain it to the little kids…or the older kids! Buck Cow and calf Um, don’t get too close there are kids here!
