Elk Rut 2008 Gary, 27 September 200827 September 2008 It’s that time of year again so we headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park to watch the elk. If you are there at the right time of day you can see hundreds of elk, listen to the bulls bugle and watch them fight. It was Isabel’s first trip so I was hoping we would see something to remember. We arrived around 1030, which is not a good time to view elk. We started with a hike in the hills and Isabel was able to see some horses and a chipmunk! We drove through the park and stopped to play in a stream. With no elk to see we drove into town and ate lunch. A rain storm blew through while we were eating. We decided to head back to the park and see if the elk came out after the rain. We were able to see two harems and two lone bulls nearby. There was a lot of bugling and antlers thrashing the brush, but no fights. Isabel enjoyed seeing the elk and the sound of the bulls bugling. Videos will be posted shortly…Enjoy the pictures —-> I like to hike! Me and mom hiking! Hiking down the trail I love to play in the water!
